Falamak Nourzad
Falamak Nourzad, Principal of Continuum Architects + Planners
If there is one thing to be told about Falamak, her greatest talent is to challenge and question conventional thinking and solutions so that people strive to find the extraordinary in the ordinary. This may clearly explain her love and commitment to bringing artistic beauty to the urban environment.
Falamak’s story is truly one of American culture and opportunity. During a period of political turmoil and at her father’s request, she came to the United States from Iran to attend the University of Kansas and pursue her interest in Interior Design. It was there that she met, and later married, her husband Farrokh. Several years later, they moved to Milwaukee where she earned both her Bachelor and Masters architectural degrees at UW-Milwaukee.
In 1996, Falamak joined forces with Ursula Twombly and Bob Barr, introducing Continuum Architects + Planners to the City of Milwaukee. Her responsibilities include financial management of the firm, programming, design, construction documentation and project management. Falamak manages many of the firm’s projects and is a mentor to the younger staff. She takes her commitment to clients and alliances to great levels and has immense pride and compassion in her relationships.
Falamak is very passionate about design, urban development and the arts. With over 18 years of architectural experience, she is not only an excellent planner and senior designer but also is a strong advocate of giving back to the community. Her experienced guidance, paradigm thinking and dedicated efforts help strengthen a board, bringing the “extraordinary” out in front center. Her mind’s eye always sees the end result and she does what it takes to make that result happen.
Falamak offers her voice and talents to stimulate community awareness and participation in all the many seeds that art plants and have lasting impact to the quality of life.
She currently lives in Milwaukee with her husband Dr. Farrokh Nourzad, Professor of Economics at Marquette University, and five year old daughter Sheilla. When time allows, she enjoys painting on canvas with watercolor and oil.
