Genyne Edwards

Attorney Genyne L. Edwards is president of Edwards Ingenuity, LLC, a communications and community-outreach consulting firm. Genyne has provided organizational and strategic leadership to professionals for more than 10 years with her extensive experience in organizational leadership, program management, communications strategy and community outreach.

Genyne is a graduate of Marquette University Law School, where she focused on and excelled in Intellectual Property courses. She received her Bachelor’s of Science from Purdue University in Organizational Leadership and Supervision. Before law school, she gained valuable experience working in the Houston office of Texas Instruments as a manufacturing engineering manager.

As an attorney, she has developed diverse relationships in government, policy, legal, communications and business communities (state, regional and national). As Deputy Secretary of the Wisconsin Department of Tourism, she successfully initiated numerous outreach programs to improve communication between the Department of Tourism and industry partners statewide, and advocated for an increased role for cultural and urban tourism in statewide economic development policy.

Genyne is known as a passionate community advocate. In 2004, Genyne was named one of the Most Influential African-Americans in the Tourism Industry by national publication - Black Meetings and Tourism. In 2003, the Volunteer Center of Greater Milwaukee recognized her as Volunteer of the Year. The same year, she was featured in Milwaukee Magazine as a “Top 35 under 35”.

Genyne’s professional career has been driven in large part by her zeal for community service, volunteerism, youth advocacy, and in particular, her love of the arts. Her experience includes work for Lanier Law Offices, Chicago Lawyers for the Arts, Milwaukee Art Museum, YWCA of Greater Milwaukee, Strive Media Institute and currently WYMS - Radio for Milwaukee. She presently serves on community boards for Marquette University Law Alumni Association, Milwaukee World Festivals, Inc., Ko-Thi Dance Company, Cultural Alliance of Greater Milwaukee and the Black Public Relations Society – Milwaukee Chapter.
