Julia H Taylor

Julia Taylor is the president of the Greater Milwaukee Committee a private sector civic organization whose mission is to contribute to the cultural and economic base of the Milwaukee Metropolitan area. Prior to assuming leadership of the GMC, Ms. Taylor’s previous leadership positions include; Executive Director/CEO, YWCA of Greater Milwaukee, Executive Director, YWCA of Bay City, Michigan, Regional Director, American Lung Association, Marketing Representative, McDonald’s Corporation.

Ms. Taylor is actively involved in the Greater Milwaukee community as evident in her many civic projects and participation. Her efforts include; Helen Bader Institute for Non-Profit Management-Leadership Council, African American World Cultural Center, Board of Directors, Governor’s Work Force Investment Board, Council of Small Business Executives, Board of Directors, UWM School of Business, Social Entrepreneur in Residence, 9/2001–9/2002, Governor’s Glass Ceiling Commission, 1996 and 1999 Diamond Awards, Wisconsin Women’s Business Initiative Corporation, Founding Board Member of Pearls for Girls Board of Directors, Big Brothers Big Sisters Board of Directors to cite a only a few.

Julia has received many awards and honors for her work, including The Business Journal, “Who’s Who” in Milwaukee Business, Frank Kirkpatrick Award for Community Redevelopment, Milwaukee Foundation, TEMPO “Mentor Award”, Designee “Top 10 Milwaukeeans” Milwaukee Magazine, Charles McNeer Civic Leadership Award, Public Policy Forum, Lutheran Social Services Leadership Award in Human Resources, State of Wisconsin Citation by the Assembly Leadership Award, Professional Dimensions’ Sacajawea Award for Futuristic Vision.

Born in Windfall, Indiana with degrees in English and Philosophy from Ball State University, Julia lives in Milwaukee and has a daughter.
